Depth Map

Common term for depth information through grey scaled image values.

Image or video containing depth information for a (2D) color image/video, which not necessary resemble the correct depth values of the scenery, but also can create a false depth impression.

Special graphic interface from Microsoft, often used in computer games.

Specific computer graphic language to display video or graphics (2D & 3D) in a fast way with the help of the graphic card.
Disparity

Distance of an object in stereo images.

Disparity is the amount of how much the same point in a stereo image is apart in each view. In computer graphic this is usually meassured in pixels.
Disparity Map

Grey scaled image which represent correct 3D depth information.

A Disparity Map, other than a Depth Map, resembles the correct 3D depth values of a scenery through different gray values.

DVI

Connection type between computer and display.

DVI stands for Digital Video Interface. This is still the most common way to connect a computer via cable to a display. By now DVI is about to be replaced with HDMI or Display Port.
